Remember that time that I went for a wander around the 11th and stumbled upon a beautiful cake?
I do. It was glorious.
I had just stuffed myself to the point of pain (enjoyable pain) at a late Paris Pop-Up brunch in the 11th, and I was biding time until I would return for their dinner at the same location, because it was the grand finale dinner just before the organizers would move to Spain.
The theme, “Cabane à Sucre” was Canadian themed, and I was stuffed to the brim from eating a full Canadian breakfast.
Which I didn’t know existed. Yet there it is, in all its glory. Like an English breakfast plus pancakes and hash browns.
So I stumbled out in a overeating stuper, desperate to walk around.
And walk I did.
Until I came across a little place called Rachel’s, which looked cute enough for me to sit at the bar with my laptop and a coffee for a wee while. Turns out it’s owned by an American who does a mean cheesecake. Sure, they do gourmet sandwiches, salads, lunch and dinner, but it seemed evident to me that they shine in the dessert department.
Of course, I was in the worst luck because I couldn’t fit another single bite into my stomach. You saw the breakfast.
And then that cake showed up, taunting me. I still have it on my list to return. Cakes of this caliber are decidedly un-French, but if you’re a cake or cheesecake lover, looks like you have a haven here.
I’ll be back for you, chocolate cake.
