As I already mentioned earlier this week, I’ve learned a few things over the past 6 months in starting a new food blog, and now I just want to take a moment to celebrate some of the fun things that have happened along the way.
A few milestones and exciting moments since launching Paris Food Affair mid-February include :
- My first press pass. I received a 3-day press pass to Omnivore in March, which was the first fruits of my labor after just having launched Paris Food Affair a few weeks prior. The press pass came with Champagne tickets, too, so. There’s that.
- Paris by Mouth quoted reviews from Paris Food Affair in the “Reviews of Interest” section for both Dersou & Hero
- The HIP Paris Blog included Paris Food Affair as a reference at the end of their article about Ellsworth.
- Not Drinking Poison in Paris mentioned one of my posts at the end of their article on Bar à Vins A.T.
- I dropped the “A” from the name, changing “A Paris Food Affair” to “Paris Food Affair”. It doesn’t get more exciting than that. Another syllable…just too difficult.
- I was invited to be a pastry competition judge for the Paris by Mouth Best Paris-Brest Pastry Tasting Panel. (Say that 3 times fast). An afternoon spent tasting pastries for a pastry contest is pretty much the pinnacle of my Paris existence. It is all downhill from here.
- This post about new restaurants in April received over 1800 visitors in a few hours, which was exciting since I started with 0 visitors just two months prior. That’s 9,000% growth. I made that up, I don’t even know how to calculate that growth rate, and that probably makes me stupid. Let’s move on.
- I was fortunate to be a part of Team Taste for Taste of Paris in May, and it was a blast. Plus I got to go on a private market tour with Pierre Baller Sang Boyer.
- I reached 1,000 followers on Instagram. I am such small potatoes. Isn’t it cute? Truth be told, I don’t put any effort into social media or marketing, and I started with around 400, so it’s not bad for the 2 times a week that I decide to post a photo. Baby steps, amiright?
It’s all been new and fun as a debutante food blogger, so thank you for stopping by every now and again.
Six months and all these lifetime achievement awards means I should probably treat myself to a cupcake. Or six cupcakes for each month. That’s how the reward system works.
Never follow my diet plan.
Speaking of diet plans, I’m in Austin, TX, for two weeks getting my fill on BBQ, Tex-Mex, and steak. I’m here for work, but the important thing is the eating itinerary. I fully expect to return a size larger.
